Enjoy Germanys outstanding heathland with its flowering seasons, visit the historic city of Dresden, learn the history of the countries world-famous porcelain in Meissen and admire magnificent Fairytale-Castle Schwerin. Experience the city of Weimar, East Germanys heart of art, literature and culture, explore Germanys largest harbor-city Hamburg with its famous amusement quarter St. Pauli and join us for an impressive Hamburg harbor cruise!

Day 1 - Arrive Hannover Airport - Bus-Transfer to Magdeburg

A warm welcome awaits you upon arrival at Hannover airport followed by a comfortable bustransfer to the city of Magdeburg, founded during the 10th Century by Emperor Otto I the Great. A city-bustour shows the mighty Magdeburg Dom and Gothic landmark of the 13th Century before we arrive at your hotel, home for the upcoming 8 nights. Dinner at your hotel. (D / OV)

Day 2 - Bustour Berlin and Potsdam

Today a great sightseeing tour is waiting. Your bustour takes you first to Berlin to start with the historic "Alexanderplatz" and travelling on grand avenue "Unter den Linden", lined with huge monumenal buildings dating back to the 17th and 19th Centuries. A side trip will take you to famous Checkpoint Charly, a former crossing point between East and West Germany. Soon after, we arrive at the historic Brandenburg Gate. Admire its Victory Quadriga before we stop at the Reichstag building which houses Germany’s National Assembly. A ramp running around the magnificent glass-dome resting on twelve columns to secure more daylight to its main chamber. - Then we continue along the "Tiergarten" park district, arriving at "Kurfürstendamm" boulevard and pass the ruined tower of the "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächniskirche", a memorial place and reminder of the destruction in World War II. - Time is yours now to shop around or rest. Following the stop your bus takes you to nearby Potsdam where you visit the famous Sanssouci Palace, built by Frederic the Great in 1745. The tour inside of this summer residence will show you a display of art and treasure collections. You also may visit the beautiful park and "Cecilienhof", where after WW II the Potsdam Agreement was signed. Later, return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. (B & D / OV)

Day 3 - A Bus Excursion tio the Lueneburg Heath

Your excursion leads further north where you see Germany’s largest expanse of heathland in unspoiled natural surroundings. Especially in the flowering season (late summer) the landscape brings a remarkable touch of color when the heather flowers and birches, pines an junipers are in leaf.
You will be visiting an ornithological park in Walsrode. The Park is decorated with flowers and thousands of birds from all over the world are here, such as stilt birds and a variety of web-footed, like cranes, ibis, flamingoes and many others.
You can observe tropical birds flying in a large bird hall, a great collection of parrots and budgerigars are striking both for its sound and visual effect. -Following a leisurely break we continue with our bustour. The next highlight is waiting for us at the town of Undeloh, an attractive village where houses shelter beneath huge oak trees and kept apart from civilization. - Some later, a short busdrive from here takes you to the city of Lueneburg which is known for its famous brick houses, it´s impressive Town Hall, an assemblage of different buildings dating from the 13th to the 18th Century and a Gothic cloister and fountain. Time is yours again to shop or rest, before we return to our hotel in time for dinner. (B & D/OV)

Day 4 - Bus Tour to Wittenberg, Dresden and Meissen

Today, a full day of history awaits you as we travel to the city of Martin Luther: Wittenberg. You will see the church "Schlosskirche" and the famous gate where Martin Luther nailed his 95 individual complaints challenging the pope in Rome in the early 16th Century. - Time is yours before the charterbus takes you to the "Florence" of Germany: Dresden. Explore the city’s "Zwinger", a great Baroque ensemble with a grand esplanade which is surrounded by pavilions, galleries and arches of Romanesque style. Visit Dresdens Baroque Cathedral with it`s statues of saints and apostles and Dresdens famous opera house "Semperoper", built in Renaissance style in the late 19th Century. Next we see the famous Painting Gallery of Dresden presenting a fine collection of the German Romantic and Biedermeier Schools, as C. Spitzweg, Caspar F. David among many others. -Later, your bus-excursion takes you along the river Elbe to Meissen, world known for its porcelain. The porcelain-museum shows a splendid collection of timeless exhibits of the past centuries. We will also watch a workshop demonstration before we return to our hotel. (B & D/OV)

Day 5 - Coach Trip to Castle Schwerin

Another eventful day starts with a bus-tour to the capital of German province Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schwerin. It`s stunning castle draw tourists from all over the world and convince many of them that Schwerin is the highlight of the Baltic region. An bustour first will show the city’s Cathedral and the old Garden Square presenting a historic ensemble with its theatre and museum district. On the edge of the Lake Schwerin, on a tiny island, mounted by 15 turrets and surrounded by well-kept gardens, you will be visiting the magnificient Castle Schwerin, built 1857 for the royal family. This opulent fairy-tale castle has a mix of Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance styles and its inside houses pristine antiques, silk tapestries, furniture, carved wood floors and ornately decorated plaster-inlaid walls. Time is yours again to explore further or rest before our charter bus takes us back to the hotel in time for dinner. (B & D/OV)

Day 6 - Bus Excursion to Weimar

This morning your charter-bus takes you to the city of Weimar in the province of Thuringia. Weimar is the seat of literature and arts and was home of composers like Liszt and Bach and of the poets Schiller, Nietzsche and Goethe . Also Gropius formed his famous "Bauhaus" school of art and architecture here. In Weimar the first but short-lived Republic was founded in 1919 by the German National Assembly. The city bus-tour will show Weimars market place and next to it Weimars largest cobblestone square "Theaterplatz". You will visit the Central Library, an unique Renaissance building that was later transformed into a masterpiece of Rococo design and art. We will also see the "Stadtkirche", a Baroque cathedral that shows Lucas Cranach´s famous Winged Altar and the "Goethehaus" with an interior decor from oak-carved furniture to the pewter gaslights and wood cutlery. Goethe lived here until his death in 1832. On request and only a few miles out of Weimar, a side trip will show you one of Nazi´s former death camps Buchenwald. Today it is a reminder of World War II´s horror. - Later we will return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B & D/OV)

Day 7 - Bus Tour Hamburg and Harbor Cruise

This morning your bustour leads north to one of the largest ports in Europe, Hamburg. Hamburg has profited particular from the conditions of the Baltic and North Sea trade for many hundreds of years. Your city bus-tour will take you along the Alster river with a great view to Hamburgs skyline. You will be visiting the quaint market place, dominated by the impressive Town Hall with a big clock tower and nearby at the landing stage "Jungfernstieg", a much visited area for department stores and elegant shops.Feel free to spend some free time to shop or do as you please. - After lunch you are invited to participate in an unforgettable Hamburg harbor cruise to explore its large dockyards, shipping buildings, activities taken place along the banks and enjoy watching ships and cruise liners passing by. - Following this enjoyable sightseeing cruise your bus will take you to St. Pauli, Hamburg´s famous amusement quarter. Dance halls and love-bars invite "lonely" visitors form all over the world here. Take your time before we join again for dinner, this evening in Hamburg to allow more time for sightseeing and other activities. - Later this evening, we return to the hotel for overnight. Day 8 - A free Day - Organ Concert - Special Dinner Party

Today is at your disposal. - As a highlight you will enjoy a private organ concert toward evening before we join again for a farewell dinner at our hotel. This evening means a special occasion with local music and entertainment. In addition and as a surprise there will be a drawing of valuable gifts with everyone winning. We wish the last evening to be the most enjoyable one of this great leisure tour! (B & D/OV)

Day 9 - Last Day of the Tour

After the breakfast its time to say "Auf Wiedersehen" to the wonderful Old World of Germany! Your bus driver takes you back to your arrival point, wishing you a most happy return! (B)
